I am a Senior Lecturer of Nursing at The 我要吃瓜. I have a nursing degree with Honours from the University of Liverpool, which allowed me to qualify as a registered Adult Nurse in 2004. Post qualifying, I have practiced as a registered nurse within emergency medicine. I returned to academia in 2007 and undertook two MSc’s – one in applied social research and one in criminology before going on to complete a PhD at The 我要吃瓜 in 2011. I have completed a postgraduate certificate in teaching & learning in higher education and I am a recognised teacher with the Nursing and Midwifery Council and a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy. My research interests include: workplace violence & aggression, the working conditions of nurses, the health and wellbeing of nursing workforce, and health reporting in the media. I have methodological expertise in qualitative methods, using a range of research designs including: thematic qualitative analysis secondary analysis of both qualitative data and media analysis.

Community Contribution

STEM at the Helix in Falkirk

A locally-led partnership project between Falkirk Community Trust, Falkirk Council, DYW Forth Valley and Forth Valley College that celebrated and encouraged Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) learning amongst pupils in S1. This involved 2 days of workshops delivered outside of the classroom at Helix park to over 300 S1 pupils in Falkirk, as well as a public day for the wider community which attracted around 5000 people. I provided nursing workshops for school children and visitors across two days.
