Thanh has been involved in English Language Teaching (ELT) for over 15 years. These included working as an English teacher, teacher educator and materials writer. Most of his work has been with the British Council in countries such as Sudan, South Sudan, Thailand, Tunisia and Vietnam. He has also worked with students and teachers in Guinea (Africa) Kuwait, Morocco, Palestine, Uganda and Yemen.
Thanh is currently a PGR student with the Department of Education.
Research
Thanh's interests are in how English is taught and learnt within schools. He is particularly keen on understanding this from 'local' perspectives and how teachers and pupils might interpret the English curriculum in their classrooms.
Thanh is attracted to research methodologies that help facilitate the understanding of 'local' perspectives, which include things like ethnography and participant observation.
Teaching
Thanh is currently enrolled full time as a PGR student with the 我要吃瓜 however he still makes time to offer his services as an English Language Teaching (ELT) specialist on various ELT projects, mentorships and courses both freelance and on a pro-bono basis.
