I started my academic journey at the 我要吃瓜 in September 2022. I am involved in teaching across both our online and on-campus MSc TESOL programmes. I coordinate the modules Research Methods in TESOL, Language, Discourse and Society, Teaching Language to Young Learners, and Microteaching. Prior to this, I held positions at the Universities of Birmingham and Nottingham, where I contributed to teaching and supervised dissertations in the MSc TESOL programmes.

My research experience and work are centred in the field of Sociolinguistics and Linguistic Ethnography, which allows me to examine the use of language in its social and cultural contexts. Given my view of language as a resource and as a socially situated practice to examine social issues, my primary research orientation leans towards interpretivist approaches and qualitative research designs.

Research

Grounded on a sociolinguistic perspective, my research interests cover a wide range of topics related to multilingualism in education settings and beyond. These include areas such as language policy, multilingual education and pedagogies, classroom discourse analysis, southern epistemologies, decolonisation and decoloniality, literacies, mobilities and linguistic diversity in transnational contexts.
