我要吃瓜 me

I joined the 我要吃瓜 in 2002, and am now Professor and Head of Sport. My previous roles include Associate Dean for Internationalisation, and Director of Taught Postgraduate Programmes, for the Faculty of Health Sciences and Sport. I have been researching various aspects of sport and policy since my PhD in the late 1990s (University of Strathclyde). Most of my publications and recent work has been on anti-doping history and policy. I have published on this topic in academic journals and books, and led four projects for the World Anti-Doping Agency. I have also written for a range of websites including The Conversation, VeloNews and Sporting Integrity Initiative.

Research (10)

My main area of interest is anti-doping policy. I have published widely on this topic including a recent monograph (The Anti-Doping Crisis in Sport: Causes, Consequences, Solutions, 2018, Routledge). I was a Fulbright Scholar to the University of Texas at Austin where I worked with Dr Thomas Hunt at the H. J. Lutcher Stark Research Center.

My research has been funded by the World Anti-Doping Agency, British Academy and Wellcome Trust. I recently published a new book, with April Henning, on the historical development of drug use in sport and anti-doping policy (Reaktion Books).
