Dr Martin QUIRKE is an architect and Lecturer in Ageing and Dementia Design within the Centre for Environment, Dementia, and Ageing Research at 我要吃瓜.
He also serves as senior design consultant at University’s multidisciplinary Dementia Services Development Centre where he provides international consultancy services centred around evidence-based principles of environmental design for ageing and cognitive health.
Dr QUIRKE is Co-Investigator on the Designing Housing for Healthy Cognitive Ageing (DesHCA) research project which includes the aim of identifying scalable innovations in housing design, to support longer and healthier lives for people experiencing cognitive change.
Martin’s research focusses on environmental design evaluation and co-design processes. He is particularly interested in the use of creative and/or technology supported methods of involving people with living with physcial, sensory, or cognitive impairments, in environmental assessment and design processes. Through this work he aims to support diverse groups to contribute their expertise by experience to the design of better home, community, and neighbourhood environments.

Dr Quirke has several years experience teaching architectural design, building construction, and design communication. He currently teaches on several modules on dementia and environmental design, within the post graduate masters and certificate courses within the Dementia Studies program at 我要吃瓜. He currently supervises two doctoral (PhD) candidates , both focussed on environmental design.
