A System Approach to Exploring Syndemic Health and Social Condition Clustering Among Individuals Who Experience A Drug Related Death: Developmental Work For Co-Produced Interventions

Funded by .

Collaboration with NHS Scotland, University of Glasgow and University of St Andrews.

This study proposes to take a broad evidence-informed approach by integrating statistical and experiential evidence to address a key knowledge gap identified by Scottish Government. Current Scottish Government drugs policy highlights the need to address the high prevalence of comorbidities and the associated need to have better integrated services. This study will draw on?syndemics?theory to explore individual, family, and societal factors related to DRDs, and identify amenable points of intervention. Our research seeks to use this evidence to provide a better understanding of the problem of DRDs and, critically, to identify leverage points likely to have maximum impact, and to use these to develop promising interventions to the point of feasibility testing; ultimately to support the reduction in DRDs.
