Project

Living Right Up To The End

Funded by .

The project seeks to understand the experience and impact of befrienders/compassionate neighbours in providing social support, including reducing loneliness, to people with long term conditions. We are using a mixed method approach combining qualitative interviews and social network analysis alongside focus groups with compassionate neighbours. The project reflects a growing recognition of the relational thinness for people at end of life, and the role that volunteers as befrienders or compassionate neighbours can have in providing social contact.
