Project

COVID19 social distancing effects on social engagement, loneliness, wellbeing and physical activity in Scottish older adults, and an exploration of potential ameliorating strategies.

Funded by .

This project will take an online mixed methods survey approach to understanding the impact of social distancing and self-isolation on social engagement, loneliness, wellbeing and physical activity engagement. It will also examine potential positive strategies that individuals are using to minimise the impact of social distancing on their socialising and physical activity engagement, including use of technology. It will focus mainly but not exclusively on older adults, as a particularly at-risk group, in order to understand the physical and mental impact of social distancing and potential ways to ameliorate this.
