Exploring digital technology that can enhance behaviour change in dysfunctional breathing For our feasibility project, we will develop a system to improve suboptimal muscle patterns in dysfunctional breathing, in collaboration with patients, carers and healthcare professionals. This condition affects approximately 1 in 10 adults in the UK and can present alongside anxiety, pain, digestive problems and asthma/COPD. OptiMuscle will enable patients to consciously (and subconsciously) improve muscle patterns which underlie dysfunctional breathing. The system will be autonomous and therefore will reduce time patients spend engaged with traditional healthcare delivery.
