Collaboration with Edge Hill University, University of Bristol, University of Glasgow and University of Liverpool.
Commissioned by the Joseph Rowntree Foundation this collaborative project will investigate what challenges lower income tenants want to see action taken on, in Scotland’s private rented sector. Through an evidence review and mixed-methods research (surveys, focus groups) it will draw out what private tenants believe needs to improve by exploring the diverse challenges, experiences and priorities of different groups of renters. In addition, this project will co-produce, alongside tenants, landlords and housing specialists, a set of recommendations based on those priorities, that will inform the development and refinement of the Scottish Government’s forthcoming Rented Sector Strategy. The research team will include housing and knowledge exchange experts from Edgehill, Stirling, Bristol, Glasgow, and Liverpool, building on existing research partnerships from within the UK Collaborative Centre for Housing Evidence.
