HEA Curriculum for Excellence Scholarship Scheme

Funded by .

The HEA project aimed at strengthening partnerships between schools and universities, creating a greater shared understanding between the sectors and extending the network of higher education academics well versed in Curriculum for Excellence.

The scheme provided successful applicants with the opportunity to visit schools delivering Scotland’s new education system for pupils aged three to eighteen, Curriculum for Excellence (CfE), first hand to consider the impact of CfE on future higher education content and delivery within their respective disciplines.

The focus of Dr Mannion’s HEA Scholarship was on career-long professional learning for educators on teaching in outdoor contexts.

The new emphasis within Curriculum for Excellence (CfE) on pupils’ outdoor learning (and related areas of global citizenship, education for sustainable development) as expressed in current and emerging practice in Scottish schools (particularly secondary) was the focus of the inquiry.
