International practice on the use of Curriculum Learning Outcomes

Funded by .

This work, a comprehensive literature review on the use of learning outcomes in school systems across the world, has been offered to the Stirling Network for Curriculum Studies as part of a wider piece of work conducted by NCCA (Ireland¡¯s national curriculum agency) to support the ongoing implementation of the new curriculum in Ireland. Due to tendering restrictions, the limit is €5000. The NCCA will provide 40 days of researcher time, but needs the credibility of an external partner with expertise in curriculum. The Stirling Network for Curriculum Studies will provide the following: ?10 days of research assistant time (grade 6) at ?300 per day (FEC is ?340, and this will be reduced to fit inside the tender limit, with AB¡¯s approval) ?2 days of my time to fit within the remaining budget (approx. ?700 per day depending on exchange rate). The final review will be approximately 22,500 words and will be published on the NCCA website. The full review will cover the questions set out in the table below. The NCCA researcher, Anna Walshe , will be responsible for authoring the report, and will do a large proportion of the required reviewing of literature. The Stirling grade 6 RA will be apportioned a reasonable share of the work, to be completed within 10 days. The timescale is June-September 2018, and a call for expressions of interest has been put out to PGRs in the faculty. I will be responsible for planning the review in consultation with the team, and reviewing and approving the final publication. All parties will be listed as co-authors.
