Scot is a doctoral researcher whose PhD assesses the impact of contemporary immigration patterns on the Muslim community in the UK.

Scot’s expertise is in advanced quantitative methods and the handling of complex datasets and social surveys. He also has experience in conducting qualitative focus groups and interviews with people with lived experience of being on the move and key stakeholders involved in migration processes.

As research fellow on the British Academy project ( ) looking at young people’s migration in Armenia, Scot was responsible for the analysis of primary data collected through different surveys and conducted qualitative data collection in Yerevan.

Scot is currently a researcher on two mixed-methods projects, one working with children with experience of trafficking in Scotland and the other involving an evaluation of the Scottish Refugee Council’s (SRC) new Family Rights Service.

Scot has also completed an internship with the Scottish Government working closely with SRC and COSLA on projects related to the New Scots Refugee Integration policy.

Teaching

Scot teaches on a range of undergraduate and postgraduate classes that are focused on sociological theory, social problems, and the research process. He is also an instructor in practical labs in which students are learning to do their own data analysis using SPSS and STATA data analysis software.
