Abstract
First paragraph: Nearly fifty years ago Rudolf L. Mossbauer, whilst working on his doctoral thesis under Professor Maier-Leibnitz in Munich and Heidelberg, discovered the recoilless nuclear resonance absorption of g-rays which became known as the Mossbauer Effect [1-3]. The phenomenon rapidly developed to a new spectroscopic technique which now bears his name. Mossbauer spectroscopy has made valuable contributions to the physical-, chemical-, biological- and geo-sciences.
