Abstract
First paragraph: An unprecedented interest in a collaborative and engaged approach to work and employment policy has been observed in Scotland in recent years. A growing appetite for better understanding of the impact of the workplace and working practices on citizens’ livelihoods and Scottish society as a whole, initiated a positive, long-awaited wider dialogue between the government, unions, employers, employees and other stakeholders. Working Together Review enabled all these stakeholders to understand each other in order to deliver a long-term common goal: higher economic productivity, better workplace conditions, fairer and more inclusive employment practices and higher levels of personal job fulfilment. The report of Working Together Review published in 2014 recommended a need for sustained continuing collaborative conversations at both national and organisational levels to seize opportunities and promote collective bargaining, workplace democracy, diversity and equality, including full participation of women in the labour market.
