Abstract
Kinoteuthis Infernalis is a daring and wide-ranging engagement with media (primarily cinema, but also literature, music videos, 4DX, advertising, websites, YouTube videos, AI, and more) designed to change the way in which we think about our contemporary media-saturated world. Engaging with contemporary discourses of speculative realism, OOO, animal studies and the weird, it undertakes a study of cephalopods in cinema and other media (from Europe, North America, South America and Asia from 1910 to today), as well as a study of cinema and media as a kind of weird, intelligent alien.
