Abstract
First paragraph: Human-induced climate change affects the enjoyment of a wide range of internationally recognised human rights – including, inter alia, the right to life, the right to adequate food, the right to the enjoyment of highest attainable standard of physical and mental health, the right to adequate housing, the right to self-determination, the right to safe drinking water and sanitation, the right to work, and the right to development. For example, the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) has listed as the causes of climate-related deaths: extreme weather events, heat waves, floods, droughts, wildfires, water-borne and vectorborne diseases, malnutrition, and air pollution.
