Abstract
First paragraph: Many within the history of economic thought and Post-Keynesian communities and beyond were greatly saddened by the passing on 15 January 2023 at the age of 86 of Victoria (Vicky) Chick. She was the quintessential scholar and original thinker, leaving behind an important and broad-ranging corpus of work. But her legacy extends further to the ongoing effects of her inspiration, encouragement, facilitation and mentorship of others’ scholarship, in many cases as PhD supervisor. She influenced others more widely in a variety of roles in academia, such as visiting positions at an international array of universities and co-host of the Post Keynesian Study Group (which she started with Philip Arestis in 1988). Further it is hard to separate the impact of her scholarship from that of her remarkable personality. She will be remembered affectionately and with gratitude by the countless scholars who found her so inspiring and benefitted from her kindness, generosity and sense of humour as well as from her outstanding intellect.
