Abstract
The Lima Climate Change Conference took place from Dec 1, 2014-Dec 14, 2014 in Lima, Peru. In addition to the 20th Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change, the conference saw the meetings of the Convention's subsidiary bodies, including the Ad Hoc Working Group on the Durban Platform for Enhanced Action (ADP), the body tasked with laying down the groundwork for delivering a new climate agreement in 2015. Negotiations under the ADP understandably enjoyed great prominence in Lima, taking time from other items on the conference agenda. The strenuous efforts put into this endeavour seemed to pay off, however; by the close of the Conference, delegates had managed to pull together a draft negotiating text, to be further considered at the next session of the ADP, in Geneva in February 2015. This article provides an overview of the Lima Conference, focusing on the outcome of the ADP, highlighting its main achievements and shortcomings.
