Abstract
It is a fact that economic development does not proceed evenly among the regions of Western economies. Yet uneven regional development within developed capitalist economies has aroused little interest among orthodox economists of both the mainstream and the Marxist schools of thought. It has been economists in the political economy tradition who have provided most insights, and it is in line with this tradition that we will address here the specific question of the role of money in uneven regional development.
