Abstract
This case outlines the start-up, history and near collapse of a furniture company started by Paul Williams and the near critical involvement of a business partner in the form of a large group of companies. A graduate with formal training in his chosen field, Paul Williams had always wanted to be his own boss and to be able to design and build furniture. He had systematically developed many of the considered pre-requisites for success as a business person yet, as circumstances developed, the business he was involved with was in a state of near collapse. The case seeks to outline how this situation developed and the position faced by Paul Williams after his successful buy-out of the business.
