Abstract
Car parking provision is of crucial importance to many retailers and local authorities in their attempts to attract customers to locations. At the same time, the use of cars for leisure and shopping activities is attracting criticism from environmental lobbies. This paper sets out the present position in Great Britain with respect to car parking provision for retailing and reports the results of a series of linked surveys into car parking provision.
