Abstract
First paragraph: Do we need to engage people more with the places around them, or rather do we need to find new approaches to understanding and addressing the myriad ways in which they already engage with these places? In responding to this, I will draw on prior research examining the social value of early medieval sculptured stones in northeast Scotland (Jones 2004).
